London, 13th June 2011: Following a competitive pitch process, leading professional and financial services PR consultancy Spada has been appointed by Wates Group, one of the UK’s biggest privately owned construction companies, to handle its corporate PR.
Wates, which recently announced a 4% rise in turnover to £985m in its 2010 Annual Results, consists of four main business units: Construction, Living Space, Retail and Interiors. It was one of only ten companies to win the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development in 2011 for its exemplary corporate responsibility credentials – the only construction company to be recognised by the Awards in the past five years.
In addition to supporting Wates’ corporate profile, Spada will also be working alongside its business units to further their reputation among individual stakeholders and target audiences.
Paul Drechsler, Chairman and CEO of Wates, said: “During the pitch process the Spada team demonstrated a thorough understanding of Wates’ corporate brand, the marketplace in which we operate, and the objectives of our different business units. Their in-depth industry experience, coupled with the enthusiasm displayed by the team, promises well.”
Gavin Ingham Brooke, Chief Executive of Spada, added: “Wates is one of the UK’s most highly-regarded construction companies, with a forward-looking business structure, strong ambitions for growth and a deep social commitment. It is Wates’ philosophy ‘of making a lasting difference to communities’ that made us so keen to work with them. We are delighted to have been appointed.
“Spada has a strong track record in the built environment as well as a firm foundation in the professional services and complex know-how arena, which we hope will be of service in developing the Wates brand.”
