Twitter: coming to a (US) courtroom near you

January 7, 2009

Twitter is making the news – again. See this story from the Guardian on how 2009 is the year in which Twitter will, to adopt a phrase, go large, while thanks to Social Media Law Student we learn that, in the US, a Colorado judge recently approved the use of Twitter, and blogs, inside the courtroom to cover a trial.

How long before Twitter is allowed in a UK court? Quite some time, we suspect, given our Draconian contempt laws. But that Twitter is set to become a tool for both journalists and lawyers seems unarguable.
